For the cashmere hoodies, we recommend dry cleaning to keep the shape and the hand; if you're comfortable washing cashmere yourself, a gentle cool wash and a flat dry is fine. The Cotton Fisherman Hoodie is easy — machine wash cold on gentle and lay flat to dry — and the cotton-cashmere blend takes the same gentle treatment. Are your hoodies 100% cashmere?

Some are, some aren't — it depends on the style. Our cashmere hoodies are knit from 100% Grade A cashmere; we also carry cotton and a cotton-cashmere blend. Each product page lists its exact material, so check the one you're eyeing.

How do I care for them?

For cashmere we recommend dry cleaning — it's the safest way to keep the shape and the hand; if you're experienced with washing cashmere, a gentle cool wash and a flat dry works too. Cotton and cotton-blend hoodies are easy-care: machine wash cold on gentle and lay flat to dry.

Will it pill?

A little at first — and that's normal for cashmere, not a flaw. Those early pills are short, loose fibers working their way to the surface, mostly where things rub, like the sides and underarms. The good news: with good cashmere the loose fibers shed within the first several wears and the pilling drops off sharply, instead of going on and on the way cheaper cashmere does. A quick pass with a cashmere comb or stone clears the early pills, and resting a sweater a day between wears and storing it folded keep it smooth for years. (Cotton and cotton-blend styles pill far less to begin with.)
