Our founder
What really matters is learned over time
At Pura, we believe the things that really matter are learned over time.
Passed down through generations. Shaped by experience. Refined through years of practice. Our founder, Maria Knight, was raised in Sevilla, Spain, among women who understood the craft of making. Her grandmother knitted for her family, creating necessary pieces for everyday life. Her mother, a trained seamstress, built garments from the ground up — pattern, fabric, and fit — teaching others to do the same.
Maria grew up in that studio, surrounded by process and precision. Clothing was a part of life. That foundation has stayed with her.
Years later, working across fashion, Maria saw where the industry had lost its way. Beautiful pieces didn't fit real bodies. Expensive garments didn't deliver value. Closets full of options, yet nothing that truly worked. Something became clear: there was too much of everything, and not enough of what truly mattered.
We understand the artistry is in the details — how it fits, how it feels, how it moves with you. We source with care and work with partners who respect the craft. We choose materials that last — because quality is not an upgrade, it is the baseline.

Essentials
The foundation of a lasting wardrobe.
Not a category of its own. Essentials is how we mark the pieces a wardrobe is built on rather than decorated with — a sweater, a shirt, a dress. They sit across every part of the line, and we designate them piece by piece.

Specification
What we can tell you about the fiber
Everything below is tested and on file. Where a figure moves, this page moves with it. Full specifications and lot certificates on request.
Cashmere
Alashan · Qinghai · Tibet
- Grade
- Royal, on every cashmere piece in the line
- Tested range
- 14.7 – 15.4 microns, across three years of lot testing
- Baby cashmere
- 13 – 14 microns · 34–36 mm staple · select styles
- Standard
- Sustainable Fibre Alliance Animal Fibre Standard
15.4The highest we have measured
in three years of lot testing
15.5Where Grade A ends
One tenth of a micron of headroom, held across every lot for three years. We publish the ceiling rather than the finest batch, because the ceiling is the only number that describes the sweater a customer is actually holding.
Cotton
United States
- Fiber
- American-grown Supima
- Staple length
- 1.375 in, against roughly 1.0 in for upland
Longer fiber means fewer ends at the surface, which is why it holds color and resists pilling the way it does.
Linen
Meulebeke, Belgium
- Weaver
- Libeco
We name the weaver because “European flax” and Belgian Linen™ are different claims, and only one of them can be checked.
Denim
Mill in selection
- Fiber
- Cotton
- Construction
- Twill
- Used in
- Shirts and dresses, alongside linen
Wool and silk
Australia · England · Italy
- Spinner
- Z. Hinchliffe
- Used in
- The coat, in a wool and silk blend
Silk is blended for weight and drape. The wool carries the structure.
We publish the numbers because a claim nobody audits is a preference, not a fact.
